Practicing Typography - Chocolate Company Advert

As part of the Photoshop and Illustrator Unleashed course at School of Motion, I was assigned the challenge of designing an advertisement for a fictional, upscale chocolate brand. While the copy and imagery were provided by the course, I had full creative control over the font selection, typography, and logo design. The objective was to craft a visual identity that captured the brand’s luxury and sophistication.

From the outset, I envisioned an elegant design inspired by the aesthetic of French bakeries and delicatessens. To achieve this, I initially experimented with a cursive, script-based font, blending it into an intricate, embellished layout. However, after some trial and error, I realized this approach didn’t quite capture the refined yet contemporary feel I was aiming for.

Shifting gears, I found inspiration in something more familiar—Ghirardelli. I pivoted to a bold font style, accentuated with delicate flourishes and ornaments. This new direction brought the balance I was looking for, delivering a logo that felt elegant yet modern. The final design perfectly aligned with the high-end, luxurious vibe of the brand, while maintaining a clean and contemporary edge.

Overall, super happy with this, as its my first real trial with typography – a skill i desperately need to improve upon!
